New Principal Selected: John Chovanec Begins July 1st

John Chovanec

St. Andrew’s Principal Search Committee, School Committee, and Father Jim Schuerman are all pleased to announce that John Chovanec will be the school’s new principal beginning July 1st.

John comes to us as Principal the past 9 years from St. Dominic School, Brookfield. During his tenure at St. Dominic, the school was awarded the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Exemplary Award for Innovative Programs, 2010-2014. Mr. Chovanec has initiated many programs and positions at his former school, not the least being Faculty Faith Formation, Technology Coordinator, and Guidance Counselor.

Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Chovanec was a junior high social studies teacher for 20 years at St. Gabriel School, Hubertus. He also coached cross country, track, and basketball while a teacher.

After meeting with several candidates, we believe that John is best suited to guide St. Andrew Parish School into its next chapter. He has been through the accreditation process twice, bringing much needed experience as our school is renewing its accreditation in 2014.

Mr. Chovanec is a devout Catholic and currently lives in Milwaukee with his wife. Together, they have two grown sons. Please help us welcome him to our St. Andrew community. Stay tuned for future opportunities to meet him in person!

St. Andrew Parish School has reduced its tuition for all non-parishioners beginning the 2013-2014 school year by 47%. There is now an affordable option for Delavan-area parents who would like an education that focuses on developing children in knowledge, character, and values. Image

Interested families are invited to an open house on Sunday, January 26, between 10:30-11:30 AM. Visitors will be able to tour the entire school while speaking to faculty, staff, and current families. Coffee and donuts will be available in the cafeteria.

Established in 1941, St. Andrew Parish School welcomes all denominations and houses elementary grades K-4 and a middle school for grades 5-8. The course of study for all students includes Religion, Communication Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Art, Music and Physical Education. Technology is integrated throughout all curricular areas, with students using the tools available to them in our Computer Lab.

For more information, please visit St. Andrew’s website at or call the school office at 262-728-6211.
