2013 Conferences – Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 6th is the last day of the First Quarter. Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 14th (4:00 to 8:00p.m.) and Friday, November 15th(8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.), 2013. Parents will be able to sign-up for this year’s Conferences by signing up online at www.signupgenius.com beginning Thursday, November 7th. Simply go to the website, go to login, register your e-mail and password, go to Find A Sign-up, type in your teacher’s e-mail address (last name first initial of first email@example.com), click on the teacher’s name and sign-up for a time. These are mandatory conferences. Attendance will be taken. Please remember that students in grades 2 through 8 are expected to attend their conferences. Parents will get a reminder e-mail two days before their Conference. Conference sign-ups must be completed by Wednesday, November 13th. Child Supervision – A reminder to parents that children should never be left unattended during before or after school activities. Teacher duties after school prevent them from supervising children that are waiting for athletic practices or other activities to begin. K-Club is available to families that need supervision of their children before or after school. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to all of us here at St. Andrew School.
Safe Environment News – St. Andrew Parish will be hosting a “Safeguarding All God’s Children” training session in the Cafeteria on Saturday, November 9th at 10:00a.m.. The Milwaukee Archdiocese requires all volunteers working with children on a regular (more than once annually) basis to complete “Safeguarding God’s Children” training (formerly known as “VIRTUS”) and to submit to a federal and state background check. “Safeguarding” Training must be completed before volunteering for any activity, including Lunch Supervision and chaperoning for any field trips.

Parent’s Night Out! – Come and enjoy the camaraderie of other parents from St. Andrew School. Join other folks the night of November 9, 2013. From 7 PM to Midnight or later; it’s up to you. Set up your babysitters now or arrange for the kids to spend the evening with grandma and grandpa or auntie and uncle. Location to be determined. Watch for details. Christmas Concert Date Change – The Christmas Concert was tentatively listed on the 2013-14 School Calendar on Wednesday, December 18th. That date is incorrect. This year’s Christmas Concert will be held at 7:00p.m. on Thursday, December 19th (in the gym). Please mark your calendars with this new date.
Veteran’s Day Assembly – Our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly will be held in the Gym on Monday, November 11th at 1:30p.m.. Parents and veterans are invited to attend.
Office Check-in –Please remember to stop in the office for your visitor identification sticker and to sign-in if you are visiting the school. If children are leaving early from school they must be signed out and signed back in when they return. Thank you.
Hot Lunch – A reminder that ALL Hot Lunch fees are due by the 10th of each month. A $5.00 late fee will be assessed for any payments coming in after the 10th. The November Hot Lunch Menu was sent home last week in the Family Envelope.
Picture Retakes Due – A reminder that Picture Retake Orders were due back by Thursday, October 31st. All orders that have not yet been returned must be returned in the Family Envelope to the school office tomorrow(11/6/13).
ATHLETIC NEWS: There is a mandatory basketball parent meeting on Wednesday, November 13th @ 6:30pm in the gymnasium for ALL PARENTS and PLAYERS in 5th thru 8th grade that signed up for basketball. You will find more information regarding this meeting in your family envelope. The Basketball season gets underway this week. The 6th Grade boys will have practice from 6:30 to 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, November 6th and the 7th and 8th Grade Girls Team will have practice from 5:30 to 7:00p.m. on Thursday, November 7th. A reminder that all forms and fees must be turned in before anyone can practice.

Treat Day – Attention Parents: Treat Day is back! If you wish to pay in advance, the total cost for the year is $4.00. A date for November has not been determined yet. The rest of the days this year are: December 18th, January 15th, February 12th, March 19th, April 16th and May 21st. F.Y.I. – the treats do not contain nuts or nut products. The cost is .50 cents a day. Volunteers are needed to help distribute the treats during the Lunch Period. If you are interested in helping out, please call Christine Maass at 262-374-0323.
Kindergarten through 4th Grade Basketball – There will be a Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and a 3rd through 4th Grade Basketball Program this year. (involving St. Andrew’s, DCS and Our Redeemer students). The program will be run very similar to past years. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. Our tentative start date for the program will be in early January.
Morning Drop-off Reminder – Please be careful when dropping your children off in the morning or picking them up in the afternoon. Supervision of our playground area before school begins at 8:00 a.m. daily. For the safety of our students, please do not drive on to the playground while students are outside.

Computer Lab Volunteer Needed – Are you someone that enjoys the challenge of working with computers and keepings networks up and running? St. Andrew “PRIDE” –

The Lord was at work on Saturday, November 2nd, blessing us with the results of the ”Soles” for Catholic Education Walk. What a wonderful morning it was, to catch up with old friends, make new friends and to make the future brighter for the children of St. Andrew School. The walk again proved what a special place St. Andrew Parish is. The dollar amount raised is truly amazing, but also important was the building of community that occurred on this wonderful morning. Due to everyone’s efforts, the “Soles” for Catholic Education Walk made $8,675. That’s $2, 675 dollars more than our goal of $6,000! After subtracting the $3,000 that is to be used for this year’s general school budget, that leaves $5,675 to be spent on upgrading technology at St. Andrew School. The money raised from this event will help us cover the cost to put a SMARTBoard, Ipad and Apple TV in every classroom!
