St. Andrew “PRIDE” – In this week’s St. Andrew “Pride”, I’d like to remind you that our Food Drive called “I Can, You Can, We Can” will come to an end on Friday, December 20th!  Please see the following information about the Food Drive from Student Council Vice-President, (8th Grader) Madeleine Freitag:

This year our Student Council has chosen to donate non-perishable food items to the food pantry for our first service project. This is one of our main service projects that we will be doing this school year. Our theme for this project is “I Can, You Can, We Can” since we will be collecting canned goods. This will continue all the way until December 20th, which means this service project will also take place during Advent. Since the timing is perfect, we are also going to incorporate “Decking the Halls with Food.” Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items. When students bring in their food, we ask that they please bring it to the 8th grade classroom so we can line it up in the halls.

There will also be goal points marked along the upstairs hallways. As the students bring in food, we will line it up along the hallways. As we add more and more items, the food will stretch farther and farther down the halls. As we do this, we will reach goal points that are marked by stars. Every time the students reach a goal point, there will be a reward. The rewards can vary from receiving a small treat to taking part in a game involving the whole school.

In addition to these rewards, there is also going to be a reward for the class that brings in the most non-perishable food items. Each grade has a thermometer in their classroom that keeps track of the amount of food they have brought in. Whichever class has filled their thermometer the highest by December 20th, the end of this service project, receives a special reward. We hope that everyone will contribute to this service project and help us reach our goals.

Thank you for your help with this very important service project.  As Scripture states: “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” Galatians 6:2

Sincerely,

Mr. John Chovanec, Principal

St. Andrew School
