Thanksgiving Vacation – A reminder to our parents that St. Andrew School has no school on Wednesday, November 27th, Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th. On behalf of the staff at St. Andrew School, I’d like to wish all of our families a very wonderful Thanksgiving vacation. Due to the vacation, there will be no Parent Newsletter next week.
Child Supervision – A reminder to parents that children should never be left unattended during before or after school activities. Teacher duties after school prevent them from supervising children that are waiting for athletic practices or other activities to begin. K-Club is available to families that need supervision of their children before or after school. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to all of us here at St. Andrew School.
St. Andrew’s Day at Bradley’s Department Store – Bradley’s Department Store in downtown Delavan will donate 10% of their sales on Saturday, November 30th (Feast Day of St. Andrew), to St. Andrew’s school. Bradley’s will be open on that Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and have activities in the store planned throughout the day. Please support St. Andrew’s School by attending this special event.
Collection for Tornado Victims – St. Andrew School is doing a collection of household items and clothing for those families in Illinois that were affected by the tornado disaster last weekend. Please put donated items in the container by the school entrance. Items will be delivered on Friday, November 22nd.
Lights of Love – St. Andrew Parish School would like to announce our fourth annual Christmas tree lighting event, Lights of Love. This is your chance to pay tribute to all those special people that are in you life now or those that are no longer with you, by purchasing a light on our outdoor Christmas tree in their name. The tree lighting ceremony will be December 14th after the 5:00p.m. Family Mass and will stay lit throughout the Christmas Season for all to enjoy. Lights are now on sale for $5.00 each, order forms can be found in today’s family note. Please contact the school if you have any questions.
Christmas Concert Date Change – The Christmas Concert was tentatively listed on the 2013-14 School Calendar on Wednesday, December 18th. That date is incorrect. This year’s Christmas Concert will be held at 7:00p.m. on Thursday, December 19th (in the gym). Please mark your calendars with this new date.
Office Check-in –Please remember to stop in the office for your visitor identification sticker and to sign-in if you are visiting the school. If children are leaving early from school they must be signed out and signed back in when they return. Thank you.
Scrip News – November and December are our biggest months for Scrip sales and I wanted to remind you that there are a lot of retailers who offer extra incentives at this time of the year. Some of your favorite restaurants and stores offer extra percent back right now. This is a great time of year for you to start using Scrip and start building up your tuition credit. Treat Day – Attention Parents: Treat Day is back! If you wish to pay in advance, the total cost for the year is $4.00. A date for November has not been determined yet. The rest of the days this year are: December 18th, January 15th, February 12th, March 19th, April 16th and May 21st. F.Y.I. – the treats do not contain nuts or nut products. The cost is .50 cents a day. Volunteers are needed to help distribute the treats during the Lunch Period. If you are interested in helping out, please call Christine Maass at 262-374-0323.
Kindergarten through 4th Grade Basketball – There will be a Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and a 3rd through 4th Grade Basketball Program this year. (involving St. Andrew’s, DCS and Our Redeemer students). The program will be run very similar to past years. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. Our tentative start date for the program will be in early January.
Morning Drop-off Reminder – Please be careful when dropping your children off in the morning or picking them up in the afternoon. Supervision of our playground area before school begins at 8:00 a.m. daily. For the safety of our students, please do not drive on to the playground while students are outside.

Computer Lab Volunteer Needed – Are you someone that enjoys the challenge of working with computers and keepings networks up and running? Elk’s Lodge Hoop Shoot – Walworth-Lakeland Elk’s Lodge #2201 will be holding their annual Hoop Shoot on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Our Redeemer Lutheran School at 1:00p.m.. Registration starts at 12:30p.m..
Market Day News: Thank you to everyone who ordered pies last month, we sold 40 pies! AND raised over $800 this school year. All money raised supports our teachers wish lists. Order sheets are in your family envelope today. Fill out your order forms and put them back into your family envelope. Or return them to school by December 5. You can also order on-line at www.marketday.com till 11pm Monday December 9.
Market Day COOKIE COMPETITION – In last week’s Family Envelope you received information on our 2013 Bonus Days Cookie Competition. Students can sell Market Day cookies to friends and family. Return their order forms and checks, made out to Market Day, to school by December 4. Then pick up your cookies December 12 in the school cafeteria from 3:30-5:00. The class who sells the most cookies will receive a cookie party, sponsored by Home and School Association. Just like our pies last month, by ordering cookies in December our school gets double the profits for our teachers. Last year by just selling cookies in December our school earned over $500 on cookies alone. If each child sells just one box of cookies we could beat that number. St. Nick’s Breakfast – The St. Nick’s Breakfast is SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8th, 2013!!! We are looking forward to seeing you all there! 🙂
An order form for tickets to the St. Nick’s Breakfast is included in the family envelope today! The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 4-10 years, 3 years and under are free. This includes admission to the craft/vender bazaar in the gym. Tickets are also available at the door but ordering ahead really helps us out!
You will find a sign up sheet for your friends and family to help at the St. Nick’s Breakfast. This is a large fundraiser for our school and it requires the help of everyone to be successful! Thank you to those who have already signed up! We will send you a confirmation of your shift prior to the breakfast.
St. Nick’s Gift Shop – Please donate new items to the Children’s Gift Shop at the St. Nick’s Breakfast. Our inventory is very low this year. We need small new gift items for moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, teachers and pets. We also need tissue paper and gift bags (new or used). Donations can be dropped off at the office and labeled “Gift Shop”. Contact Stephanie Freitag with any questions. Thanks.
December Programs at Aram’s Public Library –
LEGO Club – Monday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m. – Give our LEGO blocks a workout building anything from a dinosaur to a spaceship. Work in teams or individually, give your creation a name, then see it displayed in the Children’s Library.
Duct Tape Creations – Thursday, December 5 at 6 pm – Let’s just be honest, duct tape is cool. Even cooler? Making stuff out of it. So come take advantage of the library’s ample supply of duct tape and make something great: a wallet…a bag…jewelry…electronics covers…anything! All materials provided.
Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. (Registration is required) – Yes, dog lovers…Divot is coming back to hear more stories! Make an appointment to spend time reading with him the first Saturday of each month. Stop by the Children’s Desk or call (262) 728-3111, ext. 117 to reserve your time slot!
Santa Visits the Library! – Saturday, December 14 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. – Santa Claus is coming…to the library! Bring the whole family for the chance to sit on St. Nick’s lap and tell him your holiday wishes. Parents, don’t forget to bring your cameras!
We’ll also be decorating holiday cookies! All of the cookies, both for munching and decorating, will be provided by the Friends of the Aram Public Library.
Snowy Stuffed Animal Story Time – Thursday, December 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Snuggle up in your coziest, warmest pajamas, bring your favorite stuffed animal friend, and join us for an extra special nighttime story time!
Santa Paws: Pet Food for Fines – December 1 to 30 – Help the homeless animals at Lakeland Animal Shelter and reduce your overdue fines at the same time. During the month of December, we’ll be collecting pet food (both canned and dry) and clay cat litter for the animal shelter. In exchange for your donation, we’ll reduce your overdue fines. This program does not apply to fees for lost or damaged items.
Lunch with the Principal –I’d like to congratulate Joel Janssen for being selected for Lunch with the Principal. Joel is a Kindergarten student in Ms. Pearce’s Class. My thanks to all of the students that received a ticket, and keep up the good deeds!
St. Andrew “PRIDE” – In this week’s St. Andrew “Pride”, I’d like to remind you about our Food Drive called “I Can, You Can, We Can” that we are having for the St. Andrew Parish Food Pantry. As we head into Thanksgiving next week, we are almost to our second goal point. Please help us reach our goal of having the line of donated food go all the way from the office, to the first grade classroom and all the way back to the office.
